"Season Of Mists And Mellow Fruitfulness" J Keats, 1875

My "Ode To Autumn"...and I'm working on books again...the theme being
"F R U I T"

Click for a close up...

This book is a combination of drawing, monoprint, beeswax, vintage paper, collage and collagraph prints.
Starting with an old book cover, that I covered it in monoprinted papers.
I next made a "concertina style" insert and glued the "strange fruit" collagraph prints to it's sections.
Warm reds, yellow/greens, and orange...I was striving for a warm richness...
The whole book was shellacked, it brought all elements together and also gave it it's "lushness".
The Autumn colours are prevalent...have to say it again...I love this time of year.

My friend Anne-Grethe went home today...I'm a bit sad. I am missing her gorgeous Norwegian accent and very funny sense of humour already.
But I have a neglected studio and a heap of projects that are in need of my attention, so I better get to it!

I love the look of shellack on paper! Fall is the best season and you are celebrating with lovely art appropriate to the time. I find fall to be the most inspiring time of year. I enjoy looking at these books Jo.

I love the way the orange pops off the page. Some of the textures almost look like used sandpaper- very rough and interesting. "Strange Fruit", are you a fan of Nina Simone too?

Jo, I think 'lush' pretty much covers this incredible little book! just gorgeous - your attention to detail makes such a statement - your colors going into the fall colors and ours here all the pastels of spring - xxo

There was a print maker I did a course with in Mullumbimby who managed to print on finely sliced and dried apple pieces, then shellacked them, this was presented in a book style. It was remarkable. Your book reminds me of her...

I can almost smell the shellac, what a beautiful rich finish you've created.

I wanted to be in Spring but not after looking at your book...now I long for the fall...these are lovely. The all over tone of the shellac unifies and enriches the colors. Bravo!
