B O X

Quiet

Still

Worn

Shy

Verge

Serene

Saved

Now that my art groups journey with the "4 Letter Word" theme has come to it's wonderful natural end...my group The Very Stuff are getting together next Monday, to think about starting our next journey together. In the interim, the word B O X arose...and the images here are my response to it.
So next Monday I will arrive with my 3 BOXES all constructed out of mat board, and collaged with vintage papers, old prints, torn etchings, silk thread, dyed muslin and bits of old book bindings.
Elements that have a poetry to them...well in my eyes anyway...bits of stuff, that have a forgotten history.
Discarded bits, that really should have disappeared by now, but have instead been saved, and now glued to a side of a box, for art's sake...

I like this a lot... The materials indeed have poetry, and the attributes too - they seem in danger of disappearing from everyday life as well...

I like these boxes...they look beautiful all lined up in a row...such mystery. I always put a lid on my boxes but these look so wonderful without...just open.

each of these things has a visual aesthetic that is hard to define in words - they are more of a feeling, a memory, visual diaries or as you say, visual poetry - I find it fascinating how these things become visual stimulus - these boxes are just wonderful and having the things on the outside instead of the inside - I love that!

Love these images and I love Jeane's comment. This is going to be an exciting exercise Jo. I've been preparing a box post for the last few weeks so this has popped up at the right time as a reminder and inspiration.

I am yet another box lover. The soft, vintage feel of these is just perfect.
