I have spent the last week concentrating on getting my pieces ready for the exhibition opening next week.
I had an anxious day yesterday, just a bit nervous, but today has been much better and I'm looking forward to Wednesday opening night.
My good friend Eleanor's partner Phil, has done most of my framing.
El and I helped too.

Detail of a Collagraph print that I decided not to show...
There is allot that goes into framing, it's really sort of an art in itself.
It's not just about getting a neat cut on the the mount board, it's also about location of the artwork within the frame.
Works out I am pretty fussy when it comes to that!!!
"Four Letter Words" I am putting in the show include:
SIGN, KISS, FISH, TEAR, RUST, GOWN, TAIL, DOOR, NUDE,
RAIN, SOUL, PEAR, WIND, WIRE, BODY, MEND, BOOK...

Detail of a painted NUDE that I decided not to show...
Tonight I have wrapped and labelled all the 17 pieces I intend showing...more than a year's worth of faithfully responding to our monthly words...and it's over.
It feels like an accomplishment...I hope my art group feels this way too, I am sure they do.
We are quite a unique bunch...and it's been a wonderful journey...
We have been asked to do a "demonstration" and artist talk on Saturday the 28th.
I will demonstrate some basic monoprinting techniques, while Janette will be making books.
I will also talk about collagraph print making, and demonstrate how a collagraph plate is made.
Hope if you can, you will join us...
OK... just about ready to open that first bottle of bubbly...

running up to opening! - 17 pieces! - that is a bunch of work - even the pieces that didn't make your cut, look truly interesting - I'm counting down from here - and, oh, my, yes! framing is a JOB! - most of my work in the last few years requires no frames and I'm loving the freedom from the exactness you describe! much smiling from here! xxo
oh, jo, this is so exciting!! i hope you can take some pics of the pieces once they're up... we'd love to see... xo
Jo I am so pleased for you and all involved in this exhibition... Bringing all this work together in a presentation form is a ton of work... you all should pat each other on an the back and say a job well done.....
Good Luck to You.. I'll be there in my imagination!!!
It takes so much to get ready for a show...framing and all. Sounds like you have help and you have the anxiety in check. I wish you well and now I'm anxious to hear all about the opening!
Hi all and thank for all your kind wishes and support...we had another sleepless night here in the hills, last night, yes nother bushfire, in the vicinity!!! all's well this morning, all under control.
With the fire threats and the show looming, it's been a testing time.
Will try to take some decent images of the work hanging. All of mine is under glass...so will be a bit tricky.
But the good news is a found a cheap black dress on the sale rack!!! and Ro from http://robruhn.blogspot.com/ has made me one of her stunning necklaces to wear! So I'm happy my exhibition outfit is under control...thanks again, and will post after the show.
Jo xx
Stunning pictures! Love the collagraphy! Good luck, Jo!
I am so excited for you Jo! You and your group have been so dedicated and put in so much work and have been through so much turmoil lately that you deserve a stellar evening to celebrate. Best wishes for the show! I don't drink, but I will definitely be raising a glass of sparkling water in your honour tomorrow. Will be there in spirit...
I love that turquoise collage. My favorite color! :)
